Mammas/Letty

2 year old Pitbull

Great with kids and other dogs. Was dumped out of a car in a lettuce field after being used for breeding.  She was malnourished and injured.  Even though poorly cared for, she doesn't have an unhappy bone in her body. Her whole being wags when she greets you. Mammas is healthy now, current on her vaccinations and looks forward to meeting her forever family. Currently being trained in the Salinas, Unchained program with foster kids.  Available for adoption at Home Away From Home Pet Spa.

Skippy, 8 weeks old, found running through Seaside and no-one answered our ads and flyers looking for his owners.  Smart, Sweet and such potential to be a great pet.

Chewy came to us at Home Away From Home Pet Spa when his owners got deployed to a state where it is illegal to own a pitbull.  We neutered him, vaccinated him and he was accepted in the unchained program where he was trained with foster teens.

Currently in the Unchained program, trained and socialized by at risk and foster youth, Lexi is a gorgeous 2 year old Pitty mix.  She is gentle, sensitive, silly, eager to please while her training includes, Sit, Lie-down, Stay, Come, Leave it and Loose Leash Walking.  She reminds us that pitbulls were once used as nanny's for children and babies.  This girl so deserves a family.  Please look for her on the AFRP website or call us to schedule a meet and greet with this sweet girl.  Spread the word.

These three neutered boys are off the chart irresistible...They were in the Salinas shelter when Joel went and picked them up.  Nougat is the white boy, he is the most outgoing, he loves his baby belly rubbed and climbing up to put his head on your shoulder to go to sleep.  Taco is the dark chocolate boy who is the smallest of the three and so so loving, he really just wants to be held and loved.  Little John is the brown and white boy, he will fall asleep anywhere, just very well mannered little guy.  Their mother was a doxy, their father we assume was chihuahua. We call them Chiweenies.   At 12 weeks old, these guys are potty pad trained, they are eating well and digesting well now that they are on a high quality diet.  If interested please contact us.  These boys are adoptable through Animal Friends Rescue Project.

This senior darling is "Buddy"  he is a very youthful 12 years old.  Buddy spent his whole life with the same family until his owner became homeless and he had to say goodbye to her and start a new life.  He will be the kind of dog that will want to be close to his owner and will need awhile to feel safe and secure before his anxiety subsides.  He is a true lap dog and although he is older, these dogs typically live 17-20 years.  Buddy is a 10 lbs Yorkie/mix, perfect for a large purse, yet not too small that he is breakable. Our goal is to find the perfect home before Christmas for this Buddy Elf.  If you would like to meet him,  please call us at 831-917-3647 or visit Peaceofminddogrescue.org

Gorgeous, energetic and fun loving Honey was dumped on the side of the road after having babies, she was a shelter dog that we are fostering during shelter in place.  The shelter closed down for social distancing and Honey needed a place to lay her head for a bit.  We are hoping to find Honey a home before we have to return her to the shelter when SIP is lifted.  If you have ever had a mama dog before, you know they are special, nurturing and great family dogs.

Noodle, as named by his youth Unchained trainer could also be called Casanova by all the female dogs and humans that have met him and quickly fallen for his charm.  Cats have also been known to quickly befriend this nice guy.  Shelter shock almost got the best of this lad when we went in and scooped him out, just out the door his personality and life changed, now just looking for a forever family that will give him the love and support he deserves.  In our care until we find a great forever.  For more information please call AFRP or us.

These eight beautiful Rottweiler mixes came to us with their extraordinary Mama Rottweiler at just 3 days old.  We will foster them until they are spay and neutered at 3 months.

Gorgeous inside and out, from head to toe.  This beauty ran alone in Fort Ord for months before 2 good samaritans friended her and eventually landed her in our care under AFRP.  Tilly is about 1.5 years old, very active, extremely smart.  We have had to teach her basics such as eating and drinking without fear that there won't be more.  She now knows sit, off, gentle, house (fully crate trained).  Tilly loves to run and play, squeaky toys are her favorite.  Tilly has a strong desire to herd.  She can be invasive at times and would welcome canine friends that won't mind if she wants to play hard and herd them around.  We have had her with many dogs and most seem to like her.  Cats may be something she would like to chase, not recommended at this time.  We will have Tilly Girl in our care until the perfect adopters find her.  An ideal situation would be someone who can give Tilly great exercise everyday, has a nice yard with secure fencing for her, has knowledge or experience with the breed and the discipline to continue her training.  A well trained and exercised Shepherd is a happy Shepherd.

Gorgeous inside and out!  This boy came from the Salinas shelter.    Now in our care, gaining weight, gaining confidence and health, Rio is now in the Unchained program working with at risk and foster youth learning skills, manners and socializing with the kids and trainers.  Rio is 8 years old and super sweet.  For more information contact us or Peace of mind dog rescue.

Sweet boy Snoop,  4 month old shelter pup

This sweet, fun loving, energetic pup is only 8 months old and has the worst of luck in her short life.  First left at a dumpster with her brother at 6 weeks old, then adopted by someone that really didn't want the responsibility of a puppy and dumped her at 4 months old.  Now what we thought was her Christmas miracle has turned out to be an epic fail as a family of 7 has to give her up due to their living situation..  I am worried for Mo, her heart has been broken so many times and it's not her fault.

There is no room for error, this girl needs forever sooner than later.  Please call us at Home Away From Home Pet Spa for information.

Mama Annie and her two babies Albert and Charlotte, who came to us from the SPCA foster program late July when the Big Sur fire evacuations consumed the SPCA and these sweeties needed a lot of love quick.  After overcoming malnourishment, illness and severe fleas, they are healthy and good spirited, well adjusted ones and will be ready in October for adoption....Amazing orange tabbies to say the least...calm, affectionate, full litter trained. If you have already known an orange tabby then you already know how special they are. Let us know if you are interested in meeting these gems, a sneak preview, snuggle and love time before they go up for adoption at the SPCA.  We can arrange for your name to be put down as the adopter.

Joey was brought to us after his owner passed away.  Joey loves walks and loves to snuggle and would make an ideal companion for an at home person. Joey is a 5 years old shih tzu, nicely crate trained, neutered and current on vaccinations. Joey's son Henry(below) and his mate Bella(also below) were both adopted into wonderful forever homes.  Now its Joey's turn for forever.   Available at Home Away From Home Pet Spa.

Bella, 7 year old Shih tzu

Sugar and Spice and everything nice except they were found at 3 weeks old without a mama.  Happy ending for these two who got a forever home together.

This sweet boy named Lucky was not so Lucky when his owner decided to return him to the SPCA because she just didn't want the responsibility anymore.  Because we knew Lucky from extended boarding and grooming services, we knew we had to rescue him and find him a stable home.  His ideal person has time to train him, take him for walks, snuggle him and take him for car rides whenever possible.  Because he has a broken heart, he will need lots of love to heal him and convince him that he will not be dumped again.  No doubt he is a sweet sweet boy and very deserving of forever.
